The US Senate has approved a bill which will see Israel added to the list of countries whose citizens can apply for an E-2 visa, which permits investors and their families to live and work in close proximity to their American investments. It is available to those who have or are in the process of investing upwards of USD 100,000 in a new or existing business located on US territory. The visa is renewable for 2-year periods as long as the business exists.
Prior to entry potential investors will have to prove that their projects will benefit the US economy and provide jobs. Previously, Israelis were only eligible to apply for E-1 visas which allow entry to the US only if an individual can generate high enough trade volumes to justify their presence in the country.
