The Jewish Voice from Germany
Description:

The Jewish Voice from Germany:
According to recent figures the Jewish community in Germany is the fastest growing worldwide and third largest in Europe after France and England. And many newspapers and magazines published in German and English are giving the flourishing Jewish community a new voice.

The Frankfurt Jewish Magazine appears four times a year and in each case before the Jewish holidays. It shows up in community centers, mailboxes and in the offices of influential politicians, as well as on many websites inside and outside the Jewish community.

Editor Frankfurt Jewish Magazine Susanna Keval :

"The magazine covers different things, first of all it covers all the activities of the Jewish community."

You want the community to be reflected to see themselves?

Editor Frankfurt Jewish Magazine Susanna Keval :

"To see themselves within the magazine, that is one of my issues, the other one is that there is quite a bit of Jewish cultural life, and we have a lot of lectures, concerts, and so on, exhibitions, organized through the Jewish community, so I'm just trying to reflect and to show the big variety and the vierfall of the Jewish life in Frankfurt."

Jewish publications are in fact intended as a bridge to connect Jews with Gentiles, while at the same time communicating the long history that Jews and Germans share with each other, and showing to the world that the Jewish people are alive exactly at the spot where once the forces of evil were about to wipe out Jewish presence in its entirety.

Why do you think it's important for the Jewish community, not only in Frankfurt but anywhere else in Germany, to show what is happening in the community, to show who the Jewish people are?

Editor Frankfurt Jewish Magazine Susanna Keval :

"Yes, it is important because many people don't know about Jewish life, newspapers are full of news about Israel or about anti-Semitism, but not many people know Jewish people personally and in the Jewish community."

The Jewish media in Germany does not want people to imagine only the Holocaust when they think of Judaism in Germany. Today, the community has rebuilt itself to about 220,000 people and Jews have found success in politics, business and the arts.
