Israeli FM Sceptical of Nuclear Talks, But Prefers Diplomacy: Interview with Avigdor Lieberman
Description:

Perhaps no country is following the nuclear talks with Iran more closely than Israel. The regime in Tehran has threatened more than once to destroy the Jewish State. Just last week Iran's army chief said his nation's cause is the annihilation of Israel. I sat down to talk about the threat from Iran with Israel's Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman. The Russian politician who heads the political party Yisrael Beitenu is known for his blunt and aggressive political opinions, but when it comes to Iran, Lieberman has advocated a more moderate and measured approach. I began by asking Lieberman about the West's nuclear talks last week in Bagdad which failed to end in a deal. Take a listen.

Another round of negotiations with Iran has been set for June in Moscow. Those talks will no doubt be complicated by the recent announcement from Iran's nuclear chief his country won't stop enriching uranium at 20%, a key demand of the West. Here in Jerusalem, officials are still deep skeptical about the talks and if they can really deliver results. Even if the West succeeds in getting what it wants, that's unlikely to satisfy Israelis. The demand here is to have ALL enriched uranium shipped out of Iran, low and medium grade, and to have the closure of Fordo imposed.
