The Festival of Jewish Cultures is a well known cultural event in Paris. It offers 15 days of eclectic and original experiences which are meant to introduce the public to the diversity and richness of the Jewish culture across the world. It occurs in an atmosphere of dialogue, exchanges and openness at the heart of Le Marais, the symbolic neighbourhood of the Jewish community of Paris. Shows, exhibitions, concerts, movies and conferences are some of the events organised during the festival.
Street art takes a large part of this year's edition. It represents urban culture across the world and a multicultural trip through the streets of cities like Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, Barcelona, Paris and Rome. Various Jewish and Israeli artists display their photos and paintings in different areas of Paris. Two kinds of artistic expression on the same theme which are mixed together to make us think about the world which surounds us.
Photographers usually create new art out of graffitis and tags they find along their journeys throughout urban spaces. The Festival of Jewish Cultures features pictures which give interesting indications on the city in which they were taken. Creativity does not only exist on walls. The organisers of this event know it and have created bridges between Jewish people coming from different parts of the world by connecting all kinds of artistic forms in an innovative multinational and multi-art event. This 8th Festival of Jewish Cultures is currently taking place until the 28th of June. It is an oportunity to discover broad Jewish customs and to learn more about an outstaning historical heritage through 50 events which will make you laugh, think, forget or dream.
