The hashtag #unbonjuif, a good Jew, used on the short message service Twitter has caused uproar in France? And although Twitter has promised to remove the anti-Semitic messages, people in France start to debate about the fact where racism starts and the freedom of expression ends. Most people agree that freedom of expression has its limits, but it is very difficult to draw a precise line.
SOS Racism and the UEJF, the French Jewish Student Association are trying to make Twitter delete the anti-Semitic content. Yet, in spite of earlier promises, Twitter has declared that it will not moderate content and therefore will not remove tweets with the hashtag #unbonjuif.
