Two months after a flare in violence and rocket attacks along Israel's border with Gaza, Israeli media reports suggest that a new Hamas force has been operating in the region whose task is to stop rocket attacks against Israel. The 300 black-uniformed men reportedly work under the direct supervision of the Hamas Interior Minister and operate day and night everywhere in the Gaza Strip. Reports suggest that the force has foiled numerous attacks against Israel and may exist to improve the effectiveness of the Hamas government in Gaza. However, if Israel strikes first, it is said that the force will not act and will allow retaliatory strikes against Israeli targets as was the case in March.
